About Surah Al-Hijr
Surah Al-Hijr (الحجر), meaning “The Rocky Tract”, is the 15th surah of the Holy Quran. It is a Meccan surah, revealed in Mecca, consisting of 99 verses (ayat). It spans 10 pages in this transliteration edition, from page 527 to page 536, and falls within Juz 14 of the Quran.

- 1Verse 1
الٓرۚ تِلۡكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَقُرۡءَانٖ مُّبِينٖ
Aliflamra tilka ayatu alkitabi waquranin mubeeninAlif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an
- 2Verse 2
رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوۡ كَانُواْ مُسۡلِمِينَ
Rubama yawaddu allatheena kafaroo law kanoo muslimeenaPerhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims
- 3Verse 3
ذَرۡهُمۡ يَأۡكُلُواْ وَيَتَمَتَّعُواْ وَيُلۡهِهِمُ ٱلۡأَمَلُۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ
Tharhum yakuloo wayatamattaAAoo wayulhihimu alamalu fasawfa yaAAlamoonaLet them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know
- 4Verse 4
وَمَآ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ
Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa walaha kitabun maAAloomunAnd We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree
- 5Verse 5
مَّا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ
Ma tasbiqu min ommatin ajalaha wama yastakhiroonaNo nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter
- 6Verse 6
وَقَالُواْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلذِّكۡرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجۡنُونٞ
Waqaloo ya ayyuha allathee nuzzila AAalayhi alththikru innaka lamajnoonunAnd they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad
- 7Verse 7
لَّوۡمَا تَأۡتِينَا بِٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
Law ma tateena bialmalaikati in kunta mina alssadiqeenaWhy do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful
- 8Verse 8
مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓاْ إِذٗا مُّنظَرِينَ
Ma nunazzilu almalaikata illa bialhaqqi wama kanoo ithan munthareenaWe do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved
- 9Verse 9
إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ
Inna nahnu nazzalna alththikra wainna lahu lahafithoonaIndeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian
- 10Verse 10
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Walaqad arsalna min qablika fee shiyaAAi alawwaleenaAnd We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples
- 11Verse 11
وَمَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
Wama yateehim min rasoolin illa kanoo bihi yastahzioonaAnd no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him
- 12Verse 12
كَذَٰلِكَ نَسۡلُكُهُۥ فِي قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
Kathalika naslukuhu fee quloobi almujrimeenaThus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals
- 13Verse 13
لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدۡ خَلَتۡ سُنَّةُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
La yuminoona bihi waqad khalat sunnatu alawwaleenaThey will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples
- 14Verse 14
وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم بَابٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّواْ فِيهِ يَعۡرُجُونَ
Walaw fatahna AAalayhim baban mina alssamai fathalloo feehi yaAArujoonaAnd [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend
- 15Verse 15
لَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتۡ أَبۡصَٰرُنَا بَلۡ نَحۡنُ قَوۡمٞ مَّسۡحُورُونَ
Laqaloo innama sukkirat absaruna bal nahnu qawmun mashooroonaThey would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic
- 16Verse 16
وَلَقَدۡ جَعَلۡنَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجٗا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
Walaqad jaAAalna fee alssamai buroojan wazayyannaha lilnnathireenaAnd We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers
- 17Verse 17
وَحَفِظۡنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٍ
Wahafithnaha min kulli shaytanin rajeeminAnd We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah]
- 18Verse 18
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسۡتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٞ مُّبِينٞ
Illa mani istaraqa alssamAAa faatbaAAahu shihabun mubeenunExcept one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame
- 19Verse 19
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَٰهَا وَأَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ مَّوۡزُونٖ
Waalarda madadnaha waalqayna feeha rawasiya waanbatna feeha min kulli shayin mawzooninAnd the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing
- 20Verse 20
وَجَعَلۡنَا لَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسۡتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَ
WajaAAalna lakum feeha maAAayisha waman lastum lahu biraziqeenaAnd We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers
- 21Verse 21
وَإِن مِّن شَيۡءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ
Wain min shayin illa AAindana khazainuhu wama nunazziluhu illa biqadarin maAAloominAnd there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure
- 22Verse 22
وَأَرۡسَلۡنَا ٱلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَ
Waarsalna alrriyaha lawaqiha faanzalna mina alssamai maan faasqaynakumoohu wama antum lahu bikhazineenaAnd We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers
- 23Verse 23
وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ نُحۡيِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡوَٰرِثُونَ
Wainna lanahnu nuhyee wanumeetu wanahnu alwarithoonaAnd indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor
- 24Verse 24
وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَقۡدِمِينَ مِنكُمۡ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا ٱلۡمُسۡتَـٔۡخِرِينَ
Walaqad AAalimna almustaqdimeena minkum walaqad AAalimna almustakhireenaAnd We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come]
- 25Verse 25
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحۡشُرُهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٞ
Wainna rabbaka huwa yahshuruhum innahu hakeemun AAaleemunAnd indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing
- 26Verse 26
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلٖ مِّنۡ حَمَإٖ مَّسۡنُونٖ
Walaqad khalaqna alinsana min salsalin min hamain masnooninAnd We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud
- 27Verse 27
وَٱلۡجَآنَّ خَلَقۡنَٰهُ مِن قَبۡلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ
Waaljanna khalaqnahu min qablu min nari alssamoomiAnd the jinn We created before from scorching fire
- 28Verse 28
وَإِذۡ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّي خَٰلِقُۢ بَشَرٗا مِّن صَلۡصَٰلٖ مِّنۡ حَمَإٖ مَّسۡنُونٖ
Waith qala rabbuka lilmalaikati innee khaliqun basharan min salsalin min hamain masnooninAnd [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud
- 29Verse 29
فَإِذَا سَوَّيۡتُهُۥ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُواْ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ
Faitha sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehi min roohee faqaAAoo lahu sajideenaAnd when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration
- 30Verse 30
فَسَجَدَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعُونَ
Fasajada almalaikatu kulluhum ajmaAAoonaSo the angels prostrated - all of them entirely
- 31Verse 31
إِلَّآ إِبۡلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
Illa ibleesa aba an yakoona maAAa alssajideenaExcept Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated
- 32Verse 32
قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبۡلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
Qala ya ibleesu ma laka alla takoona maAAa alssajideena[Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate
- 33Verse 33
قَالَ لَمۡ أَكُن لِّأَسۡجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقۡتَهُۥ مِن صَلۡصَٰلٖ مِّنۡ حَمَإٖ مَّسۡنُونٖ
Qala lam akun liasjuda libasharin khalaqtahu min salsalin min hamain masnooninHe said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud
- 34Verse 34
قَالَ فَٱخۡرُجۡ مِنۡهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٞ
Qala faokhruj minha fainnaka rajeemun[Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled
- 35Verse 35
وَإِنَّ عَلَيۡكَ ٱللَّعۡنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ
Wainna AAalayka allaAAnata ila yawmi alddeeniAnd indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense
- 36Verse 36
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرۡنِيٓ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ
Qala rabbi faanthirnee ila yawmi yubAAathoonaHe said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected
- 37Verse 37
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنظَرِينَ
Qala fainnaka mina almunthareena[Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved
- 38Verse 38
إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡوَقۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡلُومِ
Ila yawmi alwaqti almaAAloomiUntil the Day of the time well-known
- 39Verse 39
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغۡوَيۡتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَأُغۡوِيَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ
Qala rabbi bima aghwaytanee laozayyinanna lahum fee alardi walaoghwiyannahum ajmaAAeena[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all
- 40Verse 40
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنۡهُمُ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Illa AAibadaka minhumu almukhlaseenaExcept, among them, Your chosen servants
- 41Verse 41
قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسۡتَقِيمٌ
Qala hatha siratun AAalayya mustaqeemun[Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight
- 42Verse 42
إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيۡسَ لَكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ سُلۡطَٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَاوِينَ
Inna AAibadee laysa laka AAalayhim sultanun illa mani ittabaAAaka mina alghaweenaIndeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators
- 43Verse 43
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوۡعِدُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ
Wainna jahannama lamawAAiduhum ajmaAAeenaAnd indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all
- 44Verse 44
لَهَا سَبۡعَةُ أَبۡوَٰبٖ لِّكُلِّ بَابٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ جُزۡءٞ مَّقۡسُومٌ
Laha sabAAatu abwabin likulli babin minhum juzon maqsoomunIt has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated
- 45Verse 45
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَعُيُونٍ
Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin waAAuyooninIndeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs
- 46Verse 46
ٱدۡخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ
Odkhulooha bisalamin amineena[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]
- 47Verse 47
وَنَزَعۡنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنۡ غِلٍّ إِخۡوَٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
WanazaAAna ma fee sudoorihim min ghillin ikhwanan AAala sururin mutaqabileenaAnd We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other
- 48Verse 48
لَا يَمَسُّهُمۡ فِيهَا نَصَبٞ وَمَا هُم مِّنۡهَا بِمُخۡرَجِينَ
La yamassuhum feeha nasabun wama hum minha bimukhrajeenaNo fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed
- 49Verse 49
۞نَبِّئۡ عِبَادِيٓ أَنِّيٓ أَنَا ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Nabbi AAibadee annee ana alghafooru alrraheemu[O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful
- 50Verse 50
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ ٱلۡعَذَابُ ٱلۡأَلِيمُ
Wa anna AAathabee huwa alAAathabu alaleemuAnd that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment
- 51Verse 51
وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ عَن ضَيۡفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
Wanabbihum AAan dayfi ibraheemaAnd inform them about the guests of Abraham
- 52Verse 52
إِذۡ دَخَلُواْ عَلَيۡهِ فَقَالُواْ سَلَٰمٗا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمۡ وَجِلُونَ
Ith dakhaloo AAalayhi faqaloo salaman qala inna minkum wajiloonaWhen they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you
- 53Verse 53
قَالُواْ لَا تَوۡجَلۡ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٖ
Qaloo la tawjal inna nubashshiruka bighulamin AAaleemin[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy
- 54Verse 54
قَالَ أَبَشَّرۡتُمُونِي عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِيَ ٱلۡكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ
Qala abashshartumoonee AAala an massaniya alkibaru fabima tubashshirooniHe said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform
- 55Verse 55
قَالُواْ بَشَّرۡنَٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡقَٰنِطِينَ
Qaloo bashsharnaka bialhaqqi fala takun mina alqaniteenaThey said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing
- 56Verse 56
قَالَ وَمَن يَقۡنَطُ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
Qala waman yaqnatu min rahmati rabbihi illa alddalloonaHe said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray
- 57Verse 57
قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكُمۡ أَيُّهَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ
Qala fama khatbukum ayyuha almursaloona[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers
- 58Verse 58
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّآ أُرۡسِلۡنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمٖ مُّجۡرِمِينَ
Qaloo inna orsilna ila qawmin mujrimeenaThey said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals
- 59Verse 59
إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ
Illa ala lootin inna lamunajjoohum ajmaAAeenaExcept the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all
- 60Verse 60
إِلَّا ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرۡنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ
Illa imraatahu qaddarna innaha lamina alghabireenaExcept his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind
- 61Verse 61
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ
Falamma jaa ala lootin almursaloonaAnd when the messengers came to the family of Lot
- 62Verse 62
قَالَ إِنَّكُمۡ قَوۡمٞ مُّنكَرُونَ
Qala innakum qawmun munkaroonaHe said, "Indeed, you are people unknown
- 63Verse 63
قَالُواْ بَلۡ جِئۡنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَمۡتَرُونَ
Qaloo bal jinaka bima kanoo feehi yamtaroonaThey said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing
- 64Verse 64
وَأَتَيۡنَٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ
Waataynaka bialhaqqi wainna lasadiqoonaAnd we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful
- 65Verse 65
فَأَسۡرِ بِأَهۡلِكَ بِقِطۡعٖ مِّنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱتَّبِعۡ أَدۡبَٰرَهُمۡ وَلَا يَلۡتَفِتۡ مِنكُمۡ أَحَدٞ وَٱمۡضُواْ حَيۡثُ تُؤۡمَرُونَ
Faasri biahlika biqitAAin mina allayli waittabiAA adbarahum wala yaltafit minkum ahadun waimdoo haythu tumaroonaSo set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded
- 66Verse 66
وَقَضَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡأَمۡرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقۡطُوعٞ مُّصۡبِحِينَ
Waqadayna ilayhi thalika alamra anna dabira haolai maqtooAAun musbiheenaAnd We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning
- 67Verse 67
وَجَآءَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ يَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ
Wajaa ahlu almadeenati yastabshiroonaAnd the people of the city came rejoicing
- 68Verse 68
قَالَ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيۡفِي فَلَا تَفۡضَحُونِ
Qala inna haolai dayfee fala tafdahooni[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me
- 69Verse 69
وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِ
Waittaqoo Allaha wala tukhzooniAnd fear Allah and do not disgrace me
- 70Verse 70
قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Qaloo awalam nanhaka AAani alAAalameenaThey said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people
- 71Verse 71
قَالَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِيٓ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَٰعِلِينَ
Qala haolai banatee in kuntum faAAileena[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]
- 72Verse 72
لَعَمۡرُكَ إِنَّهُمۡ لَفِي سَكۡرَتِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ
LaAAamruka innahum lafee sakratihim yaAAmahoonaBy your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly
- 73Verse 73
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِينَ
Faakhathathumu alssayhatu mushriqeenaSo the shriek seized them at sunrise
- 74Verse 74
فَجَعَلۡنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةٗ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
FajaAAalna AAaliyaha safilaha waamtarna AAalayhim hijaratan min sijjeelinAnd We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay
- 75Verse 75
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
Inna fee thalika laayatin lilmutawassimeenaIndeed in that are signs for those who discern
- 76Verse 76
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٖ مُّقِيمٍ
Wainnaha labisabeelin muqeeminAnd indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road
- 77Verse 77
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Inna fee thalika laayatan lilmumineenaIndeed in that is a sign for the believers
- 78Verse 78
وَإِن كَانَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأَيۡكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَ
Wain kana ashabu alaykati lathalimeenaAnd the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers
- 79Verse 79
فَٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٖ مُّبِينٖ
Faintaqamna minhum wainnahuma labiimamin mubeeninSo We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway
- 80Verse 80
وَلَقَدۡ كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡحِجۡرِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Walaqad kaththaba ashabu alhijri almursaleenaAnd certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers
- 81Verse 81
وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُواْ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضِينَ
Waataynahum ayatina fakanoo AAanha muAArideenaAnd We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away
- 82Verse 82
وَكَانُواْ يَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَ
Wakanoo yanhitoona mina aljibali buyootan amineenaAnd they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure
- 83Verse 83
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ مُصۡبِحِينَ
Faakhathathumu alssayhatu musbiheenaBut the shriek seized them at early morning
- 84Verse 84
فَمَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ
Fama aghna AAanhum ma kanoo yaksiboonaSo nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn
- 85Verse 85
وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةٞۖ فَٱصۡفَحِ ٱلصَّفۡحَ ٱلۡجَمِيلَ
Wama khalaqna alssamawati waalarda wama baynahuma illa bialhaqqi wainna alssaAAata laatiyatun faisfahi alssafha aljameelaAnd We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness
- 86Verse 86
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلۡخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
Inna rabbaka huwa alkhallaqu alAAaleemuIndeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator
- 87Verse 87
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَٰكَ سَبۡعٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡمَثَانِي وَٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ ٱلۡعَظِيمَ
Walaqad ataynaka sabAAan mina almathanee waalqurana alAAatheemaAnd We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an
- 88Verse 88
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيۡنَيۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزۡوَٰجٗا مِّنۡهُمۡ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
La tamuddanna AAaynayka ila ma mattaAAna bihi azwajan minhum wala tahzan AAalayhim waikhfid janahaka lilmumineenaDo not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers
- 89Verse 89
وَقُلۡ إِنِّيٓ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِيرُ ٱلۡمُبِينُ
Waqul innee ana alnnatheeru almubeenuAnd say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner
- 90Verse 90
كَمَآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡمُقۡتَسِمِينَ
Kama anzalna AAala almuqtasimeenaJust as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators
- 91Verse 91
ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلُواْ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ عِضِينَ
Allatheena jaAAaloo alqurana AAideenaWho have made the Qur'an into portions
- 92Verse 92
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسۡـَٔلَنَّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ
Fawarabbika lanasalannahum ajmaAAeenaSo by your Lord, We will surely question them all
- 93Verse 93
عَمَّا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ
AAamma kanoo yaAAmaloonaAbout what they used to do
- 94Verse 94
فَٱصۡدَعۡ بِمَا تُؤۡمَرُ وَأَعۡرِضۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
FaisdaAA bima tumaru waaAArid AAani almushrikeenaThen declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists
- 95Verse 95
إِنَّا كَفَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَهۡزِءِينَ
Inna kafaynaka almustahzieenaIndeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers
- 96Verse 96
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجۡعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ
Allatheena yajAAaloona maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara fasawfa yaAAlamoonaWho make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know
- 97Verse 97
وَلَقَدۡ نَعۡلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدۡرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
Walaqad naAAlamu annaka yadeequ sadruka bima yaqooloonaAnd We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say
- 98Verse 98
فَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَ
Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wakun mina alssajideenaSo exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]
- 99Verse 99
وَٱعۡبُدۡ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأۡتِيَكَ ٱلۡيَقِينُ
WaoAAbud rabbaka hatta yatiyaka alyaqeenuAnd worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death)
