مَا ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ
Ma alhaqqatuWhat is the Inevitable Reality
- 3Verse 3
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡحَآقَّةُ
Wama adraka ma alhaqqatuAnd what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality
- 4Verse 4
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ وَعَادُۢ بِٱلۡقَارِعَةِ
Kaththabat thamoodu waAAadun bialqariAAatiThamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity
- 5Verse 5
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهۡلِكُواْ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
Faamma thamoodu faohlikoo bialttaghiyatiSo as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]
- 6Verse 6
وَأَمَّا عَادٞ فَأُهۡلِكُواْ بِرِيحٖ صَرۡصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٖ
Waamma AAadun faohlikoo bireehin sarsarin AAatiyatinAnd as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind
- 7Verse 7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ سَبۡعَ لَيَالٖ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومٗاۖ فَتَرَى ٱلۡقَوۡمَ فِيهَا صَرۡعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ خَاوِيَةٖ
Sakhkharaha AAalayhim sabAAa layalin wathamaniyata ayyamin husooman fatara alqawma feeha sarAAa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin khawiyatunWhich Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees
- 8Verse 8
فَهَلۡ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٖ
Fahal tara lahum min baqiyatinThen do you see of them any remains
- 9Verse 9
وَجَآءَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَن قَبۡلَهُۥ وَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَٰتُ بِٱلۡخَاطِئَةِ
Wajaa firAAawnu waman qablahu waalmutafikatu bialkhatiatiAnd there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin
- 10Verse 10
فَعَصَوۡاْ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمۡ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ أَخۡذَةٗ رَّابِيَةً
FaAAasaw rasoola rabbihim faakhathahum akhthatan rabiyatanAnd they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]
- 11Verse 11
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلۡمَآءُ حَمَلۡنَٰكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡجَارِيَةِ
Inna lamma tagha almao hamalnakum fee aljariyatiIndeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship
- 12Verse 12
لِنَجۡعَلَهَا لَكُمۡ تَذۡكِرَةٗ وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٞ وَٰعِيَةٞ
LinajAAalaha lakum tathkiratan wataAAiyaha othunun waAAiyatunThat We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it
- 13Verse 13
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي ٱلصُّورِ نَفۡخَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ
Faitha nufikha fee alssoori nafkhatun wahidatunThen when the Horn is blown with one blast
- 14Verse 14
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَٱلۡجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ
Wahumilati alardu waaljibalu fadukkata dakkatan wahidatanAnd the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow
- 15Verse 15
فَيَوۡمَئِذٖ وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ
Fayawmaithin waqaAAati alwaqiAAatuThen on that Day, the Resurrection will occur
- 16Verse 16
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِيَ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَاهِيَةٞ
Wainshaqqati alssamao fahiya yawmaithin wahiyatunAnd the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm
- 17Verse 17
وَٱلۡمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرۡجَآئِهَاۚ وَيَحۡمِلُ عَرۡشَ رَبِّكَ فَوۡقَهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ ثَمَٰنِيَةٞ
Waalmalaku AAala arjaiha wayahmilu AAarsha rabbika fawqahum yawmaithin thamaniyatunAnd the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]
- 18Verse 18
يَوۡمَئِذٖ تُعۡرَضُونَ لَا تَخۡفَىٰ مِنكُمۡ خَافِيَةٞ
Yawmaithin tuAAradoona la takhfa minkum khafiyatunThat Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed
- 19Verse 19
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقۡرَءُواْ كِتَٰبِيَهۡ
Faamma man ootiya kitabahu biyameenihi fayaqoolu haomu iqraoo kitabiyahSo as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record
- 20Verse 20
إِنِّي ظَنَنتُ أَنِّي مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهۡ
Innee thanantu annee mulaqin hisabiyahIndeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account
- 21Verse 21
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٖ رَّاضِيَةٖ
Fahuwa fee AAeeshatin radiyatinSo he will be in a pleasant life
- 22Verse 22
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖ
Fee jannatin AAaliyatinIn an elevated garden
- 23Verse 23
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٞ
Qutoofuha daniyatunIts [fruit] to be picked hanging near
- 24Verse 24
كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَآ أَسۡلَفۡتُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَيَّامِ ٱلۡخَالِيَةِ
Kuloo waishraboo haneean bima aslaftum fee alayyami alkhaliyati[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past
- 25Verse 25
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي لَمۡ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهۡ
Waamma man ootiya kitabahu bishimalihi fayaqoolu ya laytanee lam oota kitabiyahBut as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record
- 26Verse 26
وَلَمۡ أَدۡرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهۡ
Walam adri ma hisabiyahAnd had not known what is my account
- 27Verse 27
يَٰلَيۡتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلۡقَاضِيَةَ
Ya laytaha kanati alqadiyatuI wish my death had been the decisive one
- 28Verse 28
مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنِّي مَالِيَهۡۜ
Ma aghna AAannee maliyahMy wealth has not availed me
- 29Verse 29
هَلَكَ عَنِّي سُلۡطَٰنِيَهۡ
Halaka AAannee sultaniyahGone from me is my authority
- 30Verse 30
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
Khuthoohu faghulloohu[Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him
- 31Verse 31
ثُمَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
Thumma aljaheema salloohuThen into Hellfire drive him
- 32Verse 32
ثُمَّ فِي سِلۡسِلَةٖ ذَرۡعُهَا سَبۡعُونَ ذِرَاعٗا فَٱسۡلُكُوهُ
Thumma fee silsilatin tharAAuha sabAAoona thiraAAan faoslukoohuThen into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him
- 33Verse 33
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Innahu kana la yuminu biAllahi alAAatheemiIndeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great
- 34Verse 34
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
Wala yahuddu AAala taAAami almiskeeniNor did he encourage the feeding of the poor
- 35Verse 35
فَلَيۡسَ لَهُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ هَٰهُنَا حَمِيمٞ
Falaysa lahu alyawma hahuna hameemunSo there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend
- 36Verse 36
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنۡ غِسۡلِينٖ
Wala taAAamun illa min ghisleeninNor any food except from the discharge of wounds
- 37Verse 37
لَّا يَأۡكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلۡخَٰطِـُٔونَ
La yakuluhu illa alkhatioonaNone will eat it except the sinners
- 38Verse 38
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِمَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
Fala oqsimu bima tubsiroonaSo I swear by what you see
- 39Verse 39
وَمَا لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ
Wama la tubsiroonaAnd what you do not see
- 40Verse 40
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ
Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin[That] indeed, the Qur'an is the word of a noble Messenger
- 41Verse 41
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَاعِرٖۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تُؤۡمِنُونَ
Wama huwa biqawli shaAAirin qaleelan ma tuminoonaAnd it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe
- 42Verse 42
وَلَا بِقَوۡلِ كَاهِنٖۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Wala biqawli kahinin qaleelan ma tathakkaroonaNor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember
- 43Verse 43
تَنزِيلٞ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Tanzeelun min rabbi alAAalameena[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds
- 44Verse 44
وَلَوۡ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيۡنَا بَعۡضَ ٱلۡأَقَاوِيلِ
Walaw taqawwala AAalayna baAAda alaqaweeliAnd if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings
- 45Verse 45
لَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُ بِٱلۡيَمِينِ
Laakhathna minhu bialyameeniWe would have seized him by the right hand
- 46Verse 46
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعۡنَا مِنۡهُ ٱلۡوَتِينَ
Thumma laqataAAna minhu alwateenaThen We would have cut from him the aorta
- 47Verse 47
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنۡ أَحَدٍ عَنۡهُ حَٰجِزِينَ
Fama minkum min ahadin AAanhu hajizeenaAnd there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him
- 48Verse 48
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذۡكِرَةٞ لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ
Wainnahu latathkiratun lilmuttaqeenaAnd indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder for the righteous
- 49Verse 49
وَإِنَّا لَنَعۡلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
Wainna lanaAAlamu anna minkum mukaththibeenaAnd indeed, We know that among you are deniers
- 50Verse 50
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسۡرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
Wainnahu lahasratun AAala alkafireenaAnd indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers
- 51Verse 51
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلۡيَقِينِ
Wainnahu lahaqqu alyaqeeniAnd indeed, it is the truth of certainty
- 52Verse 52
فَسَبِّحۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Fasabbih biismi rabbika alAAatheemiSo exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great
