About Surah Al-Mu'minun
Surah Al-Mu'minun (المؤمنون), meaning “The Believers”, is the 23rd surah of the Holy Quran. It is a Meccan surah, revealed in Mecca, consisting of 118 verses (ayat). It spans 16 pages in this transliteration edition, from page 687 to page 702, and falls within Juz 18 of the Quran.

- 1Verse 1
قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ
Qad aflaha almuminoonaCertainly will the believers have succeeded
- 2Verse 2
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي صَلَاتِهِمۡ خَٰشِعُونَ
Allatheena hum fee salatihim khashiAAoonaThey who are during their prayer humbly submissive
- 3Verse 3
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَنِ ٱللَّغۡوِ مُعۡرِضُونَ
Waallatheena hum AAani allaghwi muAAridoonaAnd they who turn away from ill speech
- 4Verse 4
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَٰعِلُونَ
Waallatheena hum lilzzakati faAAiloonaAnd they who are observant of zakah
- 5Verse 5
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِفُرُوجِهِمۡ حَٰفِظُونَ
Waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoonaAnd they who guard their private parts
- 6Verse 6
إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡ أَوۡ مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُهُمۡ فَإِنَّهُمۡ غَيۡرُ مَلُومِينَ
Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeenaExcept from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed
- 7Verse 7
فَمَنِ ٱبۡتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡعَادُونَ
Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoonaBut whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors
- 8Verse 8
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمۡ وَعَهۡدِهِمۡ رَٰعُونَ
Waallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoonaAnd they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive
- 9Verse 9
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَٰتِهِمۡ يُحَافِظُونَ
Waallatheena hum AAala salawatihim yuhafithoonaAnd they who carefully maintain their prayers
- 10Verse 10
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡوَٰرِثُونَ
Olaika humu alwarithoonaThose are the inheritors
- 11Verse 11
ٱلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ ٱلۡفِرۡدَوۡسَ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ
Allatheena yarithoona alfirdawsa hum feeha khalidoonaWho will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally
- 12Verse 12
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن سُلَٰلَةٖ مِّن طِينٖ
Walaqad khalaqna alinsana min sulalatin min teeninAnd certainly did We create man from an extract of clay
- 13Verse 13
ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَٰهُ نُطۡفَةٗ فِي قَرَارٖ مَّكِينٖ
Thumma jaAAalnahu nutfatan fee qararin makeeninThen We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging
- 14Verse 14
ثُمَّ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلنُّطۡفَةَ عَلَقَةٗ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡعَلَقَةَ مُضۡغَةٗ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمُضۡغَةَ عِظَٰمٗا فَكَسَوۡنَا ٱلۡعِظَٰمَ لَحۡمٗا ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَٰهُ خَلۡقًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقِينَ
Thumma khalaqna alnnutfata AAalaqatan fakhalaqna alAAalaqata mudghatan fakhalaqna almudghata AAithaman fakasawna alAAithama lahman thumma anshanahu khalqan akhara fatabaraka Allahu ahsanu alkhaliqeenaThen We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators
- 15Verse 15
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ
Thumma innakum baAAda thalika lamayyitoonaThen indeed, after that you are to die
- 16Verse 16
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ تُبۡعَثُونَ
Thumma innakum yawma alqiyamati tubAAathoonaThen indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected
- 17Verse 17
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعَ طَرَآئِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ ٱلۡخَلۡقِ غَٰفِلِينَ
Walaqad khalaqna fawqakum sabAAa taraiqa wama kunna AAani alkhalqi ghafileenaAnd We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware
- 18Verse 18
وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءَۢ بِقَدَرٖ فَأَسۡكَنَّـٰهُ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابِۭ بِهِۦ لَقَٰدِرُونَ
Waanzalna mina alssamai maan biqadarin faaskannahu fee alardi wainna AAala thahabin bihi laqadiroonaAnd We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away
- 19Verse 19
فَأَنشَأۡنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٖ مِّن نَّخِيلٖ وَأَعۡنَٰبٖ لَّكُمۡ فِيهَا فَوَٰكِهُ كَثِيرَةٞ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
Faanshana lakum bihi jannatin min nakheelin waaAAnabin lakum feeha fawakihu katheeratun waminha takuloonaAnd We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat
- 20Verse 20
وَشَجَرَةٗ تَخۡرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيۡنَآءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِٱلدُّهۡنِ وَصِبۡغٖ لِّلۡأٓكِلِينَ
Washajaratan takhruju min toori saynaa tanbutu bialdduhni wasibghin lilakileenaAnd [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food for those who eat
- 21Verse 21
وَإِنَّ لَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ لَعِبۡرَةٗۖ نُّسۡقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِي بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ كَثِيرَةٞ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
Wainna lakum fee alanAAami laAAibratan nusqeekum mimma fee butooniha walakum feeha manafiAAu katheeratun waminha takuloonaAnd indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat
- 22Verse 22
وَعَلَيۡهَا وَعَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ تُحۡمَلُونَ
WaAAalayha waAAala alfulki tuhmaloonaAnd upon them and on ships you are carried
- 23Verse 23
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ فَقَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَٰهٍ غَيۡرُهُۥٓۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Walaqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoonaAnd We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him
- 24Verse 24
فَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَؤُاْ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَلَوۡ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَـٰٓئِكَةٗ مَّا سَمِعۡنَا بِهَٰذَا فِيٓ ءَابَآئِنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Faqala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yureedu an yatafaddala AAalaykum walaw shaa Allahu laanzala malaikatan ma samiAAna bihatha fee abaina alawwaleenaBut the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "This is not but a man like yourselves who wishes to take precedence over you; and if Allah had willed [to send a messenger], He would have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers
- 25Verse 25
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلُۢ بِهِۦ جِنَّةٞ فَتَرَبَّصُواْ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ
In huwa illa rajulun bihi jinnatun fatarabbasoo bihi hatta heeninHe is not but a man possessed with madness, so wait concerning him for a time
- 26Verse 26
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ
Qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooni[Noah] said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me
- 27Verse 27
فَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡهِ أَنِ ٱصۡنَعِ ٱلۡفُلۡكَ بِأَعۡيُنِنَا وَوَحۡيِنَا فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمۡرُنَا وَفَارَ ٱلتَّنُّورُ فَٱسۡلُكۡ فِيهَا مِن كُلّٖ زَوۡجَيۡنِ ٱثۡنَيۡنِ وَأَهۡلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَلَا تُخَٰطِبۡنِي فِي ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ إِنَّهُم مُّغۡرَقُونَ
Faawhayna ilayhi ani isnaAAi alfulka biaAAyunina wawahyina faitha jaa amruna wafara alttannooru faosluk feeha min kullin zawjayni ithnayni waahlaka illa man sabaqa AAalayhi alqawlu minhum wala tukhatibnee fee allatheena thalamoo innahum mughraqoonaSo We inspired to him, "Construct the ship under Our observation, and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows, put into the ship from each [creature] two mates and your family, except those for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned
- 28Verse 28
فَإِذَا ٱسۡتَوَيۡتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ فَقُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي نَجَّىٰنَا مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
Faitha istawayta anta waman maAAaka AAala alfulki faquli alhamdu lillahi allathee najjana mina alqawmi alththalimeenaAnd when you have boarded the ship, you and those with you, then say, 'Praise to Allah who has saved us from the wrongdoing people
- 29Verse 29
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلۡنِي مُنزَلٗا مُّبَارَكٗا وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡمُنزِلِينَ
Waqul rabbi anzilnee munzalan mubarakan waanta khayru almunzileenaAnd say, 'My Lord, let me land at a blessed landing place, and You are the best to accommodate [us]
- 30Verse 30
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبۡتَلِينَ
Inna fee thalika laayatin wain kunna lamubtaleenaIndeed in that are signs, and indeed, We are ever testing [Our servants]
- 31Verse 31
ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قَرۡنًا ءَاخَرِينَ
Thumma anshana min baAAdihim qarnan akhareenaThen We produced after them a generation of others
- 32Verse 32
فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا فِيهِمۡ رَسُولٗا مِّنۡهُمۡ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَٰهٍ غَيۡرُهُۥٓۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Faarsalna feehim rasoolan minhum ani oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoonaAnd We sent among them a messenger from themselves, [saying], "Worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him
- 33Verse 33
وَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَكَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَأَتۡرَفۡنَٰهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ يَأۡكُلُ مِمَّا تَأۡكُلُونَ مِنۡهُ وَيَشۡرَبُ مِمَّا تَشۡرَبُونَ
Waqala almalao min qawmihi allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biliqai alakhirati waatrafnahum fee alhayati alddunya ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yakulu mimma takuloona minhu wayashrabu mimma tashraboonaAnd the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink
- 34Verse 34
وَلَئِنۡ أَطَعۡتُم بَشَرٗا مِّثۡلَكُمۡ إِنَّكُمۡ إِذٗا لَّخَٰسِرُونَ
Walain ataAAtum basharan mithlakum innakum ithan lakhasiroonaAnd if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers
- 35Verse 35
أَيَعِدُكُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ إِذَا مِتُّمۡ وَكُنتُمۡ تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَنَّكُم مُّخۡرَجُونَ
AyaAAidukum annakum itha mittum wakuntum turaban waAAithaman annakum mukhrajoonaDoes he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]
- 36Verse 36
۞هَيۡهَاتَ هَيۡهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ
Hayhata hayhata lima tooAAadoonaHow far, how far, is that which you are promised
- 37Verse 37
إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحۡيَا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَبۡعُوثِينَ
In hiya illa hayatuna alddunya namootu wanahya wama nahnu bimabAAootheenaLife is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected
- 38Verse 38
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗا وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ
In huwa illa rajulun iftara AAala Allahi kathiban wama nahnu lahu bimumineenaHe is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him
- 39Verse 39
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ
Qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooniHe said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me
- 40Verse 40
قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٖ لَّيُصۡبِحُنَّ نَٰدِمِينَ
Qala AAamma qaleelin layusbihunna nadimeena[Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful
- 41Verse 41
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ غُثَآءٗۚ فَبُعۡدٗا لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
Faakhathathumu alssayhatu bialhaqqi fajaAAalnahum ghuthaan fabuAAdan lilqawmi alththalimeenaSo the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people
- 42Verse 42
ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قُرُونًا ءَاخَرِينَ
Thumma anshana min baAAdihim quroonan akhareenaThen We produced after them other generations
- 43Verse 43
مَا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ
Ma tasbiqu min ommatin ajalaha wama yastakhiroonaNo nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]
- 44Verse 44
ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتۡرَاۖ كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ أُمَّةٗ رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُۖ فَأَتۡبَعۡنَا بَعۡضَهُم بَعۡضٗا وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ أَحَادِيثَۚ فَبُعۡدٗا لِّقَوۡمٖ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
Thumma arsalna rusulana tatra kulla ma jaa ommatan rasooluha kaththaboohu faatbaAAna baAAdahum baAAdan wajaAAalnahum ahadeetha fabuAAdan liqawmin la yuminoonaThen We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe
- 45Verse 45
ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَٰرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ
Thumma arsalna moosa waakhahu haroona biayatina wasultanin mubeeninThen We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority
- 46Verse 46
إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوۡمًا عَالِينَ
Ila firAAawna wamalaihi faistakbaroo wakanoo qawman AAaleenaTo Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people
- 47Verse 47
فَقَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لِبَشَرَيۡنِ مِثۡلِنَا وَقَوۡمُهُمَا لَنَا عَٰبِدُونَ
Faqaloo anuminu libasharayni mithlina waqawmuhuma lana AAabidoonaThey said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude
- 48Verse 48
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡمُهۡلَكِينَ
Fakaththaboohuma fakanoo mina almuhlakeenaSo they denied them and were of those destroyed
- 49Verse 49
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَهۡتَدُونَ
Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba laAAallahum yahtadoonaAnd We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided
- 50Verse 50
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥٓ ءَايَةٗ وَءَاوَيۡنَٰهُمَآ إِلَىٰ رَبۡوَةٖ ذَاتِ قَرَارٖ وَمَعِينٖ
WajaAAalna ibna maryama waommahu ayatan waawaynahuma ila rabwatin thati qararin wamaAAeeninAnd We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water
- 51Verse 51
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرُّسُلُ كُلُواْ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَٱعۡمَلُواْ صَٰلِحًاۖ إِنِّي بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ عَلِيمٞ
Ya ayyuha alrrusulu kuloo mina alttayyibati waiAAmaloo salihan innee bima taAAmaloona AAaleemun[Allah said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I, of what you do, am Knowing
- 52Verse 52
وَإِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمۡ أُمَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱتَّقُونِ
Wainna hathihi ommatukum ommatan wahidatan waana rabbukum faittaqooniAnd indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me
- 53Verse 53
فَتَقَطَّعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَهُم بَيۡنَهُمۡ زُبُرٗاۖ كُلُّ حِزۡبِۭ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ فَرِحُونَ
FataqattaAAoo amrahum baynahum zuburan kullu hizbin bima ladayhim farihoonaBut the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing
- 54Verse 54
فَذَرۡهُمۡ فِي غَمۡرَتِهِمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
Fatharhum fee ghamratihim hatta heeninSo leave them in their confusion for a time
- 55Verse 55
أَيَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِۦ مِن مَّالٖ وَبَنِينَ
Ayahsaboona annama numidduhum bihi min malin wabaneenaDo they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children
- 56Verse 56
نُسَارِعُ لَهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡخَيۡرَٰتِۚ بَل لَّا يَشۡعُرُونَ
NusariAAu lahum fee alkhayrati bal la yashAAuroonaIs [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive
- 57Verse 57
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنۡ خَشۡيَةِ رَبِّهِم مُّشۡفِقُونَ
Inna allatheena hum min khashyati rabbihim mushfiqoonaIndeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord
- 58Verse 58
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ يُؤۡمِنُونَ
Waallatheena hum biayati rabbihim yuminoonaAnd they who believe in the signs of their Lord
- 59Verse 59
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِرَبِّهِمۡ لَا يُشۡرِكُونَ
Waallatheena hum birabbihim la yushrikoonaAnd they who do not associate anything with their Lord
- 60Verse 60
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡتُونَ مَآ ءَاتَواْ وَّقُلُوبُهُمۡ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمۡ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ رَٰجِعُونَ
Waallatheena yutoona ma ataw waquloobuhum wajilatun annahum ila rabbihim rajiAAoonaAnd they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord
- 61Verse 61
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِي ٱلۡخَيۡرَٰتِ وَهُمۡ لَهَا سَٰبِقُونَ
Olaika yusariAAoona fee alkhayrati wahum laha sabiqoonaIt is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein
- 62Verse 62
وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا وُسۡعَهَاۚ وَلَدَيۡنَا كِتَٰبٞ يَنطِقُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ
Wala nukallifu nafsan illa wusAAaha waladayna kitabun yantiqu bialhaqqi wahum la yuthlamoonaAnd We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged
- 63Verse 63
بَلۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ فِي غَمۡرَةٖ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا وَلَهُمۡ أَعۡمَٰلٞ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ هُمۡ لَهَا عَٰمِلُونَ
Bal quloobuhum fee ghamratin min hatha walahum aAAmalun min dooni thalika hum laha AAamiloonaBut their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing
- 64Verse 64
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذۡنَا مُتۡرَفِيهِم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمۡ يَجۡـَٔرُونَ
Hatta itha akhathna mutrafeehim bialAAathabi itha hum yajaroonaUntil when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help
- 65Verse 65
لَا تَجۡـَٔرُواْ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ
La tajaroo alyawma innakum minna la tunsaroonaDo not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped
- 66Verse 66
قَدۡ كَانَتۡ ءَايَٰتِي تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَكُنتُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَعۡقَٰبِكُمۡ تَنكِصُونَ
Qad kanat ayatee tutla AAalaykum fakuntum AAala aAAqabikum tankisoonaMy verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels
- 67Verse 67
مُسۡتَكۡبِرِينَ بِهِۦ سَٰمِرٗا تَهۡجُرُونَ
Mustakbireena bihi samiran tahjuroonaIn arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil
- 68Verse 68
أَفَلَمۡ يَدَّبَّرُواْ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ أَمۡ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمۡ يَأۡتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Afalam yaddabbaroo alqawla am jaahum ma lam yati abaahumu alawwaleenaThen have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers
- 69Verse 69
أَمۡ لَمۡ يَعۡرِفُواْ رَسُولَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ
Am lam yaAArifoo rasoolahum fahum lahu munkiroonaOr did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging
- 70Verse 70
أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ بِهِۦ جِنَّةُۢۚ بَلۡ جَآءَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لِلۡحَقِّ كَٰرِهُونَ
Am yaqooloona bihi jinnatun bal jaahum bialhaqqi waaktharuhum lilhaqqi karihoonaOr do they say, "In him is madness?" Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse
- 71Verse 71
وَلَوِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلۡحَقُّ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ لَفَسَدَتِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّۚ بَلۡ أَتَيۡنَٰهُم بِذِكۡرِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ عَن ذِكۡرِهِم مُّعۡرِضُونَ
Walawi ittabaAAa alhaqqu ahwaahum lafasadati alssamawatu waalardu waman feehinna bal ataynahum bithikrihim fahum AAan thikrihim muAAridoonaBut if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away
- 72Verse 72
أَمۡ تَسۡـَٔلُهُمۡ خَرۡجٗا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيۡرٞۖ وَهُوَ خَيۡرُ ٱلرَّـٰزِقِينَ
Am tasaluhum kharjan fakharaju rabbika khayrun wahuwa khayru alrraziqeenaOr do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers
- 73Verse 73
وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدۡعُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ
Wainnaka latadAAoohum ila siratin mustaqeeminAnd indeed, you invite them to a straight path
- 74Verse 74
وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ عَنِ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ لَنَٰكِبُونَ
Wainna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati AAani alssirati lanakiboonaBut indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path
- 75Verse 75
۞وَلَوۡ رَحِمۡنَٰهُمۡ وَكَشَفۡنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرّٖ لَّلَجُّواْ فِي طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ
Walaw rahimnahum wakashafna ma bihim min durrin lalajjoo fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoonaAnd even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly
- 76Verse 76
وَلَقَدۡ أَخَذۡنَٰهُم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ فَمَا ٱسۡتَكَانُواْ لِرَبِّهِمۡ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
Walaqad akhathnahum bialAAathabi fama istakanoo lirabbihim wama yatadarraAAoonaAnd We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus]
- 77Verse 77
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَتَحۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم بَابٗا ذَا عَذَابٖ شَدِيدٍ إِذَا هُمۡ فِيهِ مُبۡلِسُونَ
Hatta itha fatahna AAalayhim baban tha AAathabin shadeedin itha hum feehi mublisoonaUntil when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair
- 78Verse 78
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَۚ قَلِيلٗا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ
Wahuwa allathee anshaa lakumu alssamAAa waalabsara waalafidata qaleelan ma tashkuroonaAnd it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful
- 79Verse 79
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي ذَرَأَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ
Wahuwa allathee tharaakum fee alardi wailayhi tuhsharoonaAnd it is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered
- 80Verse 80
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُحۡيِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَلَهُ ٱخۡتِلَٰفُ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ
Wahuwa allathee yuhyee wayumeetu walahu ikhtilafu allayli waalnnahari afala taAAqiloonaAnd it is He who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of the night and the day. Then will you not reason
- 81Verse 81
بَلۡ قَالُواْ مِثۡلَ مَا قَالَ ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ
Bal qaloo mithla ma qala alawwaloonaRather, they say like what the former peoples said
- 82Verse 82
قَالُوٓاْ أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
Qaloo aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoonaThey said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected
- 83Verse 83
لَقَدۡ وُعِدۡنَا نَحۡنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا هَٰذَا مِن قَبۡلُ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Laqad wuAAidna nahnu waabaona hatha min qablu in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleenaWe have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before; this is not but legends of the former peoples
- 84Verse 84
قُل لِّمَنِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَن فِيهَآ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
Qul limani alardu waman feeha in kuntum taAAlamoonaSay, [O Muhammad], "To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you should know
- 85Verse 85
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Sayaqooloona lillahi qul afala tathakkaroonaThey will say, "To Allah." Say, "Then will you not remember
- 86Verse 86
قُلۡ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ ٱلسَّبۡعِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Qul man rabbu alssamawati alssabAAi warabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemiSay, "Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne
- 87Verse 87
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Sayaqooloona lillahi qul afala tattaqoonaThey will say, "[They belong] to Allah." Say, "Then will you not fear Him
- 88Verse 88
قُلۡ مَنۢ بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ وَهُوَ يُجِيرُ وَلَا يُجَارُ عَلَيۡهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
Qul man biyadihi malakootu kulli shayin wahuwa yujeeru wala yujaru AAalayhi in kuntum taAAlamoonaSay, "In whose hand is the realm of all things - and He protects while none can protect against Him - if you should know
- 89Verse 89
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسۡحَرُونَ
Sayaqooloona lillahi qul faanna tusharoonaThey will say, "[All belongs] to Allah." Say, "Then how are you deluded
- 90Verse 90
بَلۡ أَتَيۡنَٰهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
Bal ataynahum bialhaqqi wainnahum lakathiboonaRather, We have brought them the truth, and indeed they are liars
- 91Verse 91
مَا ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِن وَلَدٖ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُۥ مِنۡ إِلَٰهٍۚ إِذٗا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَٰهِۭ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Ma ittakhatha Allahu min waladin wama kana maAAahu min ilahin ithan lathahaba kullu ilahin bima khalaqa walaAAala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin subhana Allahi AAamma yasifoonaAllah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe [concerning Him]
- 92Verse 92
عَٰلِمِ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ
AAalimi alghaybi waalshshahadati fataAAala AAamma yushrikoona[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, so high is He above what they associate [with Him]
- 93Verse 93
قُل رَّبِّ إِمَّا تُرِيَنِّي مَا يُوعَدُونَ
Qul rabbi imma turiyannee ma yooAAadoonaSay, [O Muhammad], "My Lord, if You should show me that which they are promised
- 94Verse 94
رَبِّ فَلَا تَجۡعَلۡنِي فِي ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
Rabbi fala tajAAalnee fee alqawmi alththalimeenaMy Lord, then do not place me among the wrongdoing people
- 95Verse 95
وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّرِيَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمۡ لَقَٰدِرُونَ
Wainna AAala an nuriyaka ma naAAiduhum laqadiroonaAnd indeed, We are able to show you what We have promised them
- 96Verse 96
ٱدۡفَعۡ بِٱلَّتِي هِيَ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَۚ نَحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ
IdfaAA biallatee hiya ahsanu alssayyiata nahnu aAAlamu bima yasifoonaRepel, by [means of] what is best, [their] evil. We are most knowing of what they describe
- 97Verse 97
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنۡ هَمَزَٰتِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ
Waqul rabbi aAAoothu bika min hamazati alshshayateeniAnd say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils
- 98Verse 98
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن يَحۡضُرُونِ
WaaAAoothu bika rabbi an yahdurooniAnd I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me
- 99Verse 99
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱرۡجِعُونِ
Hatta itha jaa ahadahumu almawtu qala rabbi irjiAAooni[For such is the state of the disbelievers], until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back
- 100Verse 100
لَعَلِّيٓ أَعۡمَلُ صَٰلِحٗا فِيمَا تَرَكۡتُۚ كَلَّآۚ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَآئِلُهَاۖ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِم بَرۡزَخٌ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ
LaAAallee aAAmalu salihan feema taraktu kalla innaha kalimatun huwa qailuha wamin waraihim barzakhun ila yawmi yubAAathoonaThat I might do righteousness in that which I left behind." No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected
- 101Verse 101
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَلَآ أَنسَابَ بَيۡنَهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَلَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
Faitha nufikha fee alssoori fala ansaba baynahum yawmaithin wala yatasaaloonaSo when the Horn is blown, no relationship will there be among them that Day, nor will they ask about one another
- 102Verse 102
فَمَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ
Faman thaqulat mawazeenuhu faolaika humu almuflihoonaAnd those whose scales are heavy [with good deeds] - it is they who are the successful
- 103Verse 103
وَمَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ فِي جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدُونَ
Waman khaffat mawazeenuhu faolaika allatheena khasiroo anfusahum fee jahannama khalidoonaBut those whose scales are light - those are the ones who have lost their souls, [being] in Hell, abiding eternally
- 104Verse 104
تَلۡفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَهُمۡ فِيهَا كَٰلِحُونَ
Talfahu wujoohahumu alnnaru wahum feeha kalihoonaThe Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles
- 105Verse 105
أَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ ءَايَٰتِي تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَكُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
Alam takun ayatee tutla AAalaykum fakuntum biha tukaththiboona[It will be said]. "Were not My verses recited to you and you used to deny them
- 106Verse 106
قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتۡ عَلَيۡنَا شِقۡوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوۡمٗا ضَآلِّينَ
Qaloo rabbana ghalabat AAalayna shiqwatuna wakunna qawman dalleenaThey will say, "Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray
- 107Verse 107
رَبَّنَآ أَخۡرِجۡنَا مِنۡهَا فَإِنۡ عُدۡنَا فَإِنَّا ظَٰلِمُونَ
Rabbana akhrijna minha fain AAudna fainna thalimoonaOur Lord, remove us from it, and if we were to return [to evil], we would indeed be wrongdoers
- 108Verse 108
قَالَ ٱخۡسَـُٔواْ فِيهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ
Qala ikhsaoo feeha wala tukallimooniHe will say, "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me
- 109Verse 109
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِيقٞ مِّنۡ عِبَادِي يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغۡفِرۡ لَنَا وَٱرۡحَمۡنَا وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلرَّـٰحِمِينَ
Innahu kana fareequn min AAibadee yaqooloona rabbana amanna faighfir lana wairhamna waanta khayru alrrahimeenaIndeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful
- 110Verse 110
فَٱتَّخَذۡتُمُوهُمۡ سِخۡرِيًّا حَتَّىٰٓ أَنسَوۡكُمۡ ذِكۡرِي وَكُنتُم مِّنۡهُمۡ تَضۡحَكُونَ
Faittakhathtumoohum sikhriyyan hatta ansawkum thikree wakuntum minhum tadhakoonaBut you took them in mockery to the point that they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them
- 111Verse 111
إِنِّي جَزَيۡتُهُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡفَآئِزُونَ
Innee jazaytuhumu alyawma bima sabaroo annahum humu alfaizoonaIndeed, I have rewarded them this Day for their patient endurance - that they are the attainers [of success]
- 112Verse 112
قَٰلَ كَمۡ لَبِثۡتُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ عَدَدَ سِنِينَ
Qala kam labithtum fee alardi AAadada sineena[Allah] will say, "How long did you remain on earth in number of years
- 113Verse 113
قَالُواْ لَبِثۡنَا يَوۡمًا أَوۡ بَعۡضَ يَوۡمٖ فَسۡـَٔلِ ٱلۡعَآدِّينَ
Qaloo labithna yawman aw baAAda yawmin faisali alAAaddeenaThey will say, "We remained a day or part of a day; ask those who enumerate
- 114Verse 114
قَٰلَ إِن لَّبِثۡتُمۡ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗاۖ لَّوۡ أَنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
Qala in labithtum illa qaleelan law annakum kuntum taAAlamoonaHe will say, "You stayed not but a little - if only you had known
- 115Verse 115
أَفَحَسِبۡتُمۡ أَنَّمَا خَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ عَبَثٗا وَأَنَّكُمۡ إِلَيۡنَا لَا تُرۡجَعُونَ
Afahasibtum annama khalaqnakum AAabathan waannakum ilayna la turjaAAoonaThen did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned
- 116Verse 116
فَتَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡكَرِيمِ
FataAAala Allahu almaliku alhaqqu la ilaha illa huwa rabbu alAAarshi alkareemiSo exalted is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne
- 117Verse 117
وَمَن يَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرۡهَٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
Waman yadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara la burhana lahu bihi fainnama hisabuhu AAinda rabbihi innahu la yuflihu alkafiroonaAnd whoever invokes besides Allah another deity for which he has no proof - then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed
- 118Verse 118
وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱغۡفِرۡ وَٱرۡحَمۡ وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلرَّـٰحِمِينَ
Waqul rabbi ighfir wairham waanta khayru alrrahimeenaAnd, [O Muhammad], say, "My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful
