About Surah As-Saffat
Surah As-Saffat (الصافات), meaning “Those Ranged in Ranks”, is the 37th surah of the Holy Quran. It is a Meccan surah, revealed in Mecca, consisting of 182 verses (ayat). It spans 14 pages in this transliteration edition, from page 895 to page 908, and falls within Juz 23 of the Quran.

- 1Verse 1
وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفّٗا
Waalssaffati saffanBy those [angels] lined up in rows
- 2Verse 2
فَٱلزَّـٰجِرَٰتِ زَجۡرٗا
Faalzzajirati zajranAnd those who drive [the clouds]
- 3Verse 3
فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكۡرًا
Faalttaliyati thikranAnd those who recite the message
- 4Verse 4
إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمۡ لَوَٰحِدٞ
Inna ilahakum lawahidunIndeed, your God is One
- 5Verse 5
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَشَٰرِقِ
Rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma warabbu almashariqiLord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises
- 6Verse 6
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلۡكَوَاكِبِ
Inna zayyanna alssamaa alddunya bizeenatin alkawakibiIndeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars
- 7Verse 7
وَحِفۡظٗا مِّن كُلِّ شَيۡطَٰنٖ مَّارِدٖ
Wahifthan min kulli shaytanin maridinAnd as protection against every rebellious devil
- 8Verse 8
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡمَلَإِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ وَيُقۡذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٖ
La yassammaAAoona ila almalai alaAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janibin[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side
- 9Verse 9
دُحُورٗاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ وَاصِبٌ
Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasibunRepelled; and for them is a constant punishment
- 10Verse 10
إِلَّا مَنۡ خَطِفَ ٱلۡخَطۡفَةَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٞ ثَاقِبٞ
Illa man khatifa alkhatfata faatbaAAahu shihabun thaqibunExcept one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]
- 11Verse 11
فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَهُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَم مَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَآۚ إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٖ لَّازِبِۭ
Faistaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teenin lazibinThen inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay
- 12Verse 12
بَلۡ عَجِبۡتَ وَيَسۡخَرُونَ
Bal AAajibta wayaskharoonaBut you wonder, while they mock
- 13Verse 13
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُواْ لَا يَذۡكُرُونَ
Waitha thukkiroo la yathkuroonaAnd when they are reminded, they remember not
- 14Verse 14
وَإِذَا رَأَوۡاْ ءَايَةٗ يَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ
Waitha raaw ayatan yastaskhiroonaAnd when they see a sign, they ridicule
- 15Verse 15
وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٌ
Waqaloo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenunAnd say, "This is not but obvious magic
- 16Verse 16
أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoonaWhen we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected
- 17Verse 17
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ
Awaabaona alawwaloonaAnd our forefathers [as well]
- 18Verse 18
قُلۡ نَعَمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ دَٰخِرُونَ
Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroonaSay, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible
- 19Verse 19
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ فَإِذَا هُمۡ يَنظُرُونَ
Fainnama hiya zajratun wahidatun faitha hum yanthuroonaIt will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing
- 20Verse 20
وَقَالُواْ يَٰوَيۡلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Waqaloo ya waylana hatha yawmu alddeeniThey will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense
- 21Verse 21
هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Hatha yawmu alfasli allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny
- 22Verse 22
۞ٱحۡشُرُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ وَأَزۡوَٰجَهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡبُدُونَ
Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoo waazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoona[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship
- 23Verse 23
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهۡدُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Min dooni Allahi faihdoohum ila sirati aljaheemiOther than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire
- 24Verse 24
وَقِفُوهُمۡۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسۡـُٔولُونَ
Waqifoohum innahum masooloonaAnd stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned
- 25Verse 25
مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
Ma lakum la tanasaroona[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other
- 26Verse 26
بَلۡ هُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ مُسۡتَسۡلِمُونَ
Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoonaBut they, that Day, are in surrender
- 27Verse 27
وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloonaAnd they will approach one another blaming each other
- 28Verse 28
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَأۡتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ
Qaloo innakum kuntum tatoonana AAani alyameeniThey will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right
- 29Verse 29
قَالُواْ بَل لَّمۡ تَكُونُواْ مُؤۡمِنِينَ
Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mumineenaThe oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers
- 30Verse 30
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيۡكُم مِّن سُلۡطَٰنِۭۖ بَلۡ كُنتُمۡ قَوۡمٗا طَٰغِينَ
Wama kana lana AAalaykum min sultanin bal kuntum qawman tagheenaAnd we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people
- 31Verse 31
فَحَقَّ عَلَيۡنَا قَوۡلُ رَبِّنَآۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ
Fahaqqa AAalayna qawlu rabbina inna lathaiqoonaSo the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]
- 32Verse 32
فَأَغۡوَيۡنَٰكُمۡ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ
Faaghwaynakum inna kunna ghaweenaAnd we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators
- 33Verse 33
فَإِنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ فِي ٱلۡعَذَابِ مُشۡتَرِكُونَ
Fainnahum yawmaithin fee alAAathabi mushtarikoonaSo indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment
- 34Verse 34
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
Inna kathalika nafAAalu bialmujrimeenaIndeed, that is how We deal with the criminals
- 35Verse 35
إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوٓاْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ
Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahum la ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroonaIndeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant
- 36Verse 36
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓاْ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٖ مَّجۡنُونِۭ
Wayaqooloona ainna latarikoo alihatina lishaAAirin majnooninAnd were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet
- 37Verse 37
بَلۡ جَآءَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Bal jaa bialhaqqi wasaddaqa almursaleenaRather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers
- 38Verse 38
إِنَّكُمۡ لَذَآئِقُواْ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَلِيمِ
Innakum lathaiqoo alAAathabi alaleemiIndeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment
- 39Verse 39
وَمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ
Wama tujzawna illa ma kuntum taAAmaloonaAnd you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do
- 40Verse 40
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseenaBut not the chosen servants of Allah
- 41Verse 41
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ
Olaika lahum rizqun maAAloomunThose will have a provision determined
- 42Verse 42
فَوَٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكۡرَمُونَ
Fawakihu wahum mukramoonaFruits; and they will be honored
- 43Verse 43
فِي جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
Fee jannati alnnaAAeemiIn gardens of pleasure
- 44Verse 44
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
AAala sururin mutaqabileenaOn thrones facing one another
- 45Verse 45
يُطَافُ عَلَيۡهِم بِكَأۡسٖ مِّن مَّعِينِۭ
Yutafu AAalayhim bikasin min maAAeeninThere will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring
- 46Verse 46
بَيۡضَآءَ لَذَّةٖ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
Baydaa laththatin lilshsharibeenaWhite and delicious to the drinkers
- 47Verse 47
لَا فِيهَا غَوۡلٞ وَلَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا يُنزَفُونَ
La feeha ghawlun wala hum AAanha yunzafoonaNo bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated
- 48Verse 48
وَعِندَهُمۡ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ عِينٞ
WaAAindahum qasiratu alttarfi AAeenunAnd with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes
- 49Verse 49
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيۡضٞ مَّكۡنُونٞ
Kaannahunna baydun maknoonunAs if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected
- 50Verse 50
فَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloonaAnd they will approach one another, inquiring of each other
- 51Verse 51
قَالَ قَآئِلٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٞ
Qala qailun minhum innee kana lee qareenunA speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]
- 52Verse 52
يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُصَدِّقِينَ
Yaqoolu ainnaka lamina almusaddiqeenaWho would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe
- 53Verse 53
أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamadeenoonaThat when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed
- 54Verse 54
قَالَ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
Qala hal antum muttaliAAoonaHe will say, "Would you [care to] look
- 55Verse 55
فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِي سَوَآءِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
FaittalaAAa faraahu fee sawai aljaheemiAnd he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire
- 56Verse 56
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرۡدِينِ
Qala taAllahi in kidta laturdeeniHe will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me
- 57Verse 57
وَلَوۡلَا نِعۡمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُحۡضَرِينَ
Walawla niAAmatu rabbee lakuntu mina almuhdareenaIf not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]
- 58Verse 58
أَفَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
Afama nahnu bimayyiteenaThen, are we not to die
- 59Verse 59
إِلَّا مَوۡتَتَنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
Illa mawtatana aloola wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeenaExcept for our first death, and we will not be punished
- 60Verse 60
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ
Inna hatha lahuwa alfawzu alAAatheemuIndeed, this is the great attainment
- 61Verse 61
لِمِثۡلِ هَٰذَا فَلۡيَعۡمَلِ ٱلۡعَٰمِلُونَ
Limithli hatha falyaAAmali alAAamiloonaFor the like of this let the workers [on earth] work
- 62Verse 62
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيۡرٞ نُّزُلًا أَمۡ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu alzzaqqoomiIs Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum
- 63Verse 63
إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَٰهَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
Inna jaAAalnaha fitnatan lilththalimeenaIndeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers
- 64Verse 64
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٞ تَخۡرُجُ فِيٓ أَصۡلِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee asli aljaheemiIndeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire
- 65Verse 65
طَلۡعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ
TalAAuha kaannahu ruoosu alshshayateeniIts emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils
- 66Verse 66
فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَأٓكِلُونَ مِنۡهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ
Fainnahum laakiloona minha famalioona minha albutoonaAnd indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies
- 67Verse 67
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا لَشَوۡبٗا مِّنۡ حَمِيمٖ
Thumma inna lahum AAalayha lashawban min hameeminThen indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water
- 68Verse 68
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرۡجِعَهُمۡ لَإِلَى ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Thumma inna marjiAAahum laila aljaheemiThen indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire
- 69Verse 69
إِنَّهُمۡ أَلۡفَوۡاْ ءَابَآءَهُمۡ ضَآلِّينَ
Innahum alfaw abaahum dalleenaIndeed they found their fathers astray
- 70Verse 70
فَهُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمۡ يُهۡرَعُونَ
Fahum AAala atharihim yuhraAAoonaSo they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps
- 71Verse 71
وَلَقَدۡ ضَلَّ قَبۡلَهُمۡ أَكۡثَرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharu alawwaleenaAnd there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples
- 72Verse 72
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireenaAnd We had already sent among them warners
- 73Verse 73
فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ
Faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almunthareenaThen look how was the end of those who were warned
- 74Verse 74
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseenaBut not the chosen servants of Allah
- 75Verse 75
وَلَقَدۡ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٞ فَلَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمُجِيبُونَ
Walaqad nadana noohun falaniAAma almujeeboonaAnd Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders
- 76Verse 76
وَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Wanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbi alAAatheemiAnd We saved him and his family from the great affliction
- 77Verse 77
وَجَعَلۡنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلۡبَاقِينَ
WajaAAalna thurriyyatahu humu albaqeenaAnd We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]
- 78Verse 78
وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireenaAnd left for him [favorable mention] among later generations
- 79Verse 79
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٖ فِي ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Salamun AAala noohin fee alAAalameenaPeace upon Noah among the worlds
- 80Verse 80
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineenaIndeed, We thus reward the doers of good
- 81Verse 81
إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Innahu min AAibadina almumineenaIndeed, he was of Our believing servants
- 82Verse 82
ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
Thumma aghraqna alakhareenaThen We drowned the disbelievers
- 83Verse 83
۞وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
Wainna min sheeAAatihi laibraheemaAnd indeed, among his kind was Abraham
- 84Verse 84
إِذۡ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلۡبٖ سَلِيمٍ
Ith jaa rabbahu biqalbin saleeminWhen he came to his Lord with a sound heart
- 85Verse 85
إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعۡبُدُونَ
Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi matha taAAbudoona[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship
- 86Verse 86
أَئِفۡكًا ءَالِهَةٗ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
Aifkan alihatan doona Allahi tureedoonaIs it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire
- 87Verse 87
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Fama thannukum birabbi alAAalameenaThen what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds
- 88Verse 88
فَنَظَرَ نَظۡرَةٗ فِي ٱلنُّجُومِ
Fanathara nathratan fee alnnujoomiAnd he cast a look at the stars
- 89Verse 89
فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٞ
Faqala innee saqeemunAnd said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill
- 90Verse 90
فَتَوَلَّوۡاْ عَنۡهُ مُدۡبِرِينَ
Fatawallaw AAanhu mudbireenaSo they turned away from him, departing
- 91Verse 91
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمۡ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
Faragha ila alihatihim faqala ala takuloonaThen he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat
- 92Verse 92
مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
Ma lakum la tantiqoonaWhat is [wrong] with you that you do not speak
- 93Verse 93
فَرَاغَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ضَرۡبَۢا بِٱلۡيَمِينِ
Faragha AAalayhim darban bialyameeniAnd he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand
- 94Verse 94
فَأَقۡبَلُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِ يَزِفُّونَ
Faaqbaloo ilayhi yaziffoonaThen the people came toward him, hastening
- 95Verse 95
قَالَ أَتَعۡبُدُونَ مَا تَنۡحِتُونَ
Qala ataAAbudoona ma tanhitoonaHe said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve
- 96Verse 96
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ
WaAllahu khalaqakum wama taAAmaloonaWhile Allah created you and that which you do
- 97Verse 97
قَالُواْ ٱبۡنُواْ لَهُۥ بُنۡيَٰنٗا فَأَلۡقُوهُ فِي ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Qaloo ibnoo lahu bunyanan faalqoohu fee aljaheemiThey said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire
- 98Verse 98
فَأَرَادُواْ بِهِۦ كَيۡدٗا فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمُ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِينَ
Faaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumu alasfaleenaAnd they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased
- 99Verse 99
وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي سَيَهۡدِينِ
Waqala innee thahibun ila rabbee sayahdeeniAnd [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me
- 100Verse 100
رَبِّ هَبۡ لِي مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
Rabbi hab lee mina alssaliheenaMy Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous
- 101Verse 101
فَبَشَّرۡنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٖ
Fabashsharnahu bighulamin haleeminSo We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy
- 102Verse 102
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعۡيَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَيَّ إِنِّيٓ أَرَىٰ فِي ٱلۡمَنَامِ أَنِّيٓ أَذۡبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرۡ مَاذَا تَرَىٰۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفۡعَلۡ مَا تُؤۡمَرُۖ سَتَجِدُنِيٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
Falamma balagha maAAahu alssaAAya qala ya bunayya innee ara fee almanami annee athbahuka faonthur matha tara qala ya abati ifAAal ma tumaru satajidunee in shaa Allahu mina alssabireenaAnd when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast
- 103Verse 103
فَلَمَّآ أَسۡلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلۡجَبِينِ
Falamma aslama watallahu liljabeeniAnd when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead
- 104Verse 104
وَنَٰدَيۡنَٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبۡرَٰهِيمُ
Wanadaynahu an ya ibraheemuWe called to him, "O Abraham
- 105Verse 105
قَدۡ صَدَّقۡتَ ٱلرُّءۡيَآۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Qad saddaqta alrruya inna kathalika najzee almuhsineenaYou have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good
- 106Verse 106
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡبَلَـٰٓؤُاْ ٱلۡمُبِينُ
Inna hatha lahuwa albalao almubeenuIndeed, this was the clear trial
- 107Verse 107
وَفَدَيۡنَٰهُ بِذِبۡحٍ عَظِيمٖ
Wafadaynahu bithibhin AAatheeminAnd We ransomed him with a great sacrifice
- 108Verse 108
وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireenaAnd We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations
- 109Verse 109
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
Salamun AAala ibraheemaPeace upon Abraham
- 110Verse 110
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Kathalika najzee almuhsineenaIndeed, We thus reward the doers of good
- 111Verse 111
إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Innahu min AAibadina almumineenaIndeed, he was of Our believing servants
- 112Verse 112
وَبَشَّرۡنَٰهُ بِإِسۡحَٰقَ نَبِيّٗا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
Wabashsharnahu biishaqa nabiyyan mina alssaliheenaAnd We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous
- 113Verse 113
وَبَٰرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسۡحَٰقَۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحۡسِنٞ وَظَالِمٞ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ مُبِينٞ
Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAala ishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinun wathalimun linafsihi mubeenunAnd We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself
- 114Verse 114
وَلَقَدۡ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
Walaqad mananna AAala moosa waharoonaAnd We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron
- 115Verse 115
وَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُمَا وَقَوۡمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Wanajjaynahuma waqawmahuma mina alkarbi alAAatheemiAnd We saved them and their people from the great affliction
- 116Verse 116
وَنَصَرۡنَٰهُمۡ فَكَانُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبِينَ
Wanasarnahum fakanoo humu alghalibeenaAnd We supported them so it was they who overcame
- 117Verse 117
وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمَا ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَبِينَ
Waataynahuma alkitaba almustabeenaAnd We gave them the explicit Scripture
- 118Verse 118
وَهَدَيۡنَٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ
Wahadaynahuma alssirata almustaqeemaAnd We guided them on the straight path
- 119Verse 119
وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمَا فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
Watarakna AAalayhima fee alakhireenaAnd We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations
- 120Verse 120
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
Salamun AAala moosa waharoonaPeace upon Moses and Aaron
- 121Verse 121
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineenaIndeed, We thus reward the doers of good
- 122Verse 122
إِنَّهُمَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Innahuma min AAibadina almumineenaIndeed, they were of Our believing servants
- 123Verse 123
وَإِنَّ إِلۡيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Wainna ilyasa lamina almursaleenaAnd indeed, Elias was from among the messengers
- 124Verse 124
إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Ith qala liqawmihi ala tattaqoonaWhen he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allah
- 125Verse 125
أَتَدۡعُونَ بَعۡلٗا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحۡسَنَ ٱلۡخَٰلِقِينَ
AtadAAoona baAAlan watatharoona ahsana alkhaliqeenaDo you call upon Ba'l and leave the best of creators
- 126Verse 126
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمۡ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Allaha rabbakum warabba abaikumu alawwaleenaAllah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers
- 127Verse 127
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ
Fakaththaboohu fainnahum lamuhdaroonaAnd they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment]
- 128Verse 128
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseenaExcept the chosen servants of Allah
- 129Verse 129
وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ
Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireenaAnd We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations
- 130Verse 130
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلۡ يَاسِينَ
Salamun AAala il yaseenaPeace upon Elias
- 131Verse 131
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineenaIndeed, We thus reward the doers of good
- 132Verse 132
إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Innahu min AAibadina almumineenaIndeed, he was of Our believing servants
- 133Verse 133
وَإِنَّ لُوطٗا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Wainna lootan lamina almursaleenaAnd indeed, Lot was among the messengers
- 134Verse 134
إِذۡ نَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَ
Ith najjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeena[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all
- 135Verse 135
إِلَّا عَجُوزٗا فِي ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ
Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireenaExcept his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers]
- 136Verse 136
ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ
Thumma dammarna alakhareenaThen We destroyed the others
- 137Verse 137
وَإِنَّكُمۡ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيۡهِم مُّصۡبِحِينَ
Wainnakum latamurroona AAalayhim musbiheenaAnd indeed, you pass by them in the morning
- 138Verse 138
وَبِٱلَّيۡلِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ
Wabiallayli afala taAAqiloonaAnd at night. Then will you not use reason
- 139Verse 139
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Wainna yoonusa lamina almursaleenaAnd indeed, Jonah was among the messengers
- 140Verse 140
إِذۡ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ
Ith abaqa ila alfulki almashhooni[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship
- 141Verse 141
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُدۡحَضِينَ
Fasahama fakana mina almudhadeenaAnd he drew lots and was among the losers
- 142Verse 142
فَٱلۡتَقَمَهُ ٱلۡحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٞ
Failtaqamahu alhootu wahuwa muleemunThen the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy
- 143Verse 143
فَلَوۡلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِينَ
Falawla annahu kana mina almusabbiheenaAnd had he not been of those who exalt Allah
- 144Verse 144
لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطۡنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ
Lalabitha fee batnihi ila yawmi yubAAathoonaHe would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected
- 145Verse 145
۞فَنَبَذۡنَٰهُ بِٱلۡعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٞ
Fanabathnahu bialAAarai wahuwa saqeemunBut We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill
- 146Verse 146
وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ شَجَرَةٗ مِّن يَقۡطِينٖ
Waanbatna AAalayhi shajaratan min yaqteeninAnd We caused to grow over him a gourd vine
- 147Verse 147
وَأَرۡسَلۡنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِاْئَةِ أَلۡفٍ أَوۡ يَزِيدُونَ
Waarsalnahu ila miati alfin aw yazeedoonaAnd We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more
- 148Verse 148
فَـَٔامَنُواْ فَمَتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِينٖ
Faamanoo famattaAAnahum ila heeninAnd they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time
- 149Verse 149
فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ
Faistaftihim alirabbika albanatu walahumu albanoonaSo inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons
- 150Verse 150
أَمۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثٗا وَهُمۡ شَٰهِدُونَ
Am khalaqna almalaikata inathan wahum shahidoonaOr did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses
- 151Verse 151
أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنۡ إِفۡكِهِمۡ لَيَقُولُونَ
Ala innahum min ifkihim layaqooloonaUnquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say
- 152Verse 152
وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
Walada Allahu wainnahum lakathiboonaAllah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars
- 153Verse 153
أَصۡطَفَى ٱلۡبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلۡبَنِينَ
Astafa albanati AAala albaneenaHas He chosen daughters over sons
- 154Verse 154
مَا لَكُمۡ كَيۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ
Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoonaWhat is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement
- 155Verse 155
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Afala tathakkaroonaThen will you not be reminded
- 156Verse 156
أَمۡ لَكُمۡ سُلۡطَٰنٞ مُّبِينٞ
Am lakum sultanun mubeenunOr do you have a clear authority
- 157Verse 157
فَأۡتُواْ بِكِتَٰبِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ
Fatoo bikitabikum in kuntum sadiqeenaThen produce your scripture, if you should be truthful
- 158Verse 158
وَجَعَلُواْ بَيۡنَهُۥ وَبَيۡنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ نَسَبٗاۚ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمَتِ ٱلۡجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ
WajaAAaloo baynahu wabayna aljinnati nasaban walaqad AAalimati aljinnatu innahum lamuhdaroonaAnd they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]
- 159Verse 159
سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Subhana Allahi AAamma yasifoonaExalted is Allah above what they describe
- 160Verse 160
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseenaExcept the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]
- 161Verse 161
فَإِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ
Fainnakum wama taAAbudoonaSo indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship
- 162Verse 162
مَآ أَنتُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ
Ma antum AAalayhi bifatineenaYou cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him
- 163Verse 163
إِلَّا مَنۡ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Illa man huwa sali aljaheemiExcept he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire
- 164Verse 164
وَمَامِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ
Wama minna illa lahu maqamun maAAloomun[The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position
- 165Verse 165
وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ
Wainna lanahnu alssaffoonaAnd indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]
- 166Verse 166
وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحُونَ
Wainna lanahnu almusabbihoonaAnd indeed, we are those who exalt Allah
- 167Verse 167
وَإِن كَانُواْ لَيَقُولُونَ
Wain kanoo layaqooloonaAnd indeed, the disbelievers used to say
- 168Verse 168
لَوۡ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكۡرٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Law anna AAindana thikran mina alawwaleenaIf we had a message from [those of] the former peoples
- 169Verse 169
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Lakunna AAibada Allahi almukhlaseenaWe would have been the chosen servants of Allah
- 170Verse 170
فَكَفَرُواْ بِهِۦۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ
Fakafaroo bihi fasawfa yaAAlamoonaBut they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know
- 171Verse 171
وَلَقَدۡ سَبَقَتۡ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Walaqad sabaqat kalimatuna liAAibadina almursaleenaAnd Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers
- 172Verse 172
إِنَّهُمۡ لَهُمُ ٱلۡمَنصُورُونَ
Innahum lahumu almansooroona[That] indeed, they would be those given victory
- 173Verse 173
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبُونَ
Wainna jundana lahumu alghaliboonaAnd [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome
- 174Verse 174
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ
Fatawalla AAanhum hatta heeninSo, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time
- 175Verse 175
وَأَبۡصِرۡهُمۡ فَسَوۡفَ يُبۡصِرُونَ
Waabsirhum fasawfa yubsiroonaAnd see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see
- 176Verse 176
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloonaThen for Our punishment are they impatient
- 177Verse 177
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمۡ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ
Faitha nazala bisahatihim fasaa sabahu almunthareenaBut when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned
- 178Verse 178
وَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ
Watawalla AAanhum hatta heeninAnd leave them for a time
- 179Verse 179
وَأَبۡصِرۡ فَسَوۡفَ يُبۡصِرُونَ
Waabsir fasawfa yubsiroonaAnd see, for they are going to see
- 180Verse 180
سُبۡحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلۡعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Subhana rabbika rabbi alAAizzati AAamma yasifoonaExalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe
- 181Verse 181
وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
Wasalamun AAala almursaleenaAnd peace upon the messengers
- 182Verse 182
وَٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Waalhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameenaAnd praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds
