ٱقۡتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلۡقَمَرُ
Iqtarabati alssaAAatu wainshaqqa alqamaruThe Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]
- 2Verse 2
وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ ءَايَةٗ يُعۡرِضُواْ وَيَقُولُواْ سِحۡرٞ مُّسۡتَمِرّٞ
Wain yaraw ayatan yuAAridoo wayaqooloo sihrun mustamirrunAnd if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic
- 3Verse 3
وَكَذَّبُواْ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡۚ وَكُلُّ أَمۡرٖ مُّسۡتَقِرّٞ
Wakaththaboo waittabaAAoo ahwaahum wakullu amrin mustaqirrunAnd they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement
- 4Verse 4
وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزۡدَجَرٌ
Walaqad jaahum mina alanbai ma feehi muzdajarunAnd there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence
- 5Verse 5
حِكۡمَةُۢ بَٰلِغَةٞۖ فَمَا تُغۡنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ
Hikmatun balighatun fama tughnee alnnuthuruExtensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]
- 6Verse 6
فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡۘ يَوۡمَ يَدۡعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيۡءٖ نُّكُرٍ
Fatawalla AAanhum yawma yadAAu alddaAAi ila shayin nukurinSo leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding
- 7Verse 7
خُشَّعًا أَبۡصَٰرُهُمۡ يَخۡرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَجۡدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمۡ جَرَادٞ مُّنتَشِرٞ
KhushshaAAan absaruhum yakhrujoona mina alajdathi kaannahum jaradun muntashirunTheir eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading
- 8Verse 8
مُّهۡطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِۖ يَقُولُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوۡمٌ عَسِرٞ
MuhtiAAeena ila alddaAAi yaqoolu alkafiroona hatha yawmun AAasirunRacing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day
- 9Verse 9
۞كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٖ فَكَذَّبُواْ عَبۡدَنَا وَقَالُواْ مَجۡنُونٞ وَٱزۡدُجِرَ
Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin fakaththaboo AAabdana waqaloo majnoonun waizdujiraThe people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled
- 10Verse 10
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّي مَغۡلُوبٞ فَٱنتَصِرۡ
FadaAAa rabbahu annee maghloobun faintasirSo he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help
- 11Verse 11
فَفَتَحۡنَآ أَبۡوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٖ مُّنۡهَمِرٖ
Fafatahna abwaba alssamai bimain munhamirinThen We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down
- 12Verse 12
وَفَجَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأَرۡضَ عُيُونٗا فَٱلۡتَقَى ٱلۡمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمۡرٖ قَدۡ قُدِرَ
Wafajjarna alarda AAuyoonan failtaqa almao AAala amrin qad qudiraAnd caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined
- 13Verse 13
وَحَمَلۡنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلۡوَٰحٖ وَدُسُرٖ
Wahamalnahu AAala thati alwahin wadusurinAnd We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails
- 14Verse 14
تَجۡرِي بِأَعۡيُنِنَا جَزَآءٗ لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ
Tajree biaAAyunina jazaan liman kana kufiraSailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied
- 15Verse 15
وَلَقَد تَّرَكۡنَٰهَآ ءَايَةٗ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
Walaqad taraknaha ayatan fahal min muddakirinAnd We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember
- 16Verse 16
فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuriAnd how [severe] were My punishment and warning
- 17Verse 17
وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirinAnd We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember
- 18Verse 18
كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٞ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Kaththabat AAadun fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuriAad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning
- 19Verse 19
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ رِيحٗا صَرۡصَرٗا فِي يَوۡمِ نَحۡسٖ مُّسۡتَمِرّٖ
Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirrinIndeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune
- 20Verse 20
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٖ مُّنقَعِرٖ
TanziAAu alnnasa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin munqaAAirinExtracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted
- 21Verse 21
فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuriAnd how [severe] were My punishment and warning
- 22Verse 22
وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirinAnd We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember
- 23Verse 23
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
Kaththabat thamoodu bialnnuthuriThamud denied the warning
- 24Verse 24
فَقَالُوٓاْ أَبَشَرٗا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدٗا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذٗا لَّفِي ضَلَٰلٖ وَسُعُرٍ
Faqaloo abasharan minna wahidan nattabiAAuhu inna ithan lafee dalalin wasuAAurinAnd said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness
- 25Verse 25
أَءُلۡقِيَ ٱلذِّكۡرُ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۢ بَيۡنِنَا بَلۡ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٞ
Aolqiya alththikru AAalayhi min baynina bal huwa kaththabun ashirunHas the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar
- 26Verse 26
سَيَعۡلَمُونَ غَدٗا مَّنِ ٱلۡكَذَّابُ ٱلۡأَشِرُ
SayaAAlamoona ghadan mani alkaththabu alashiruThey will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar
- 27Verse 27
إِنَّا مُرۡسِلُواْ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتۡنَةٗ لَّهُمۡ فَٱرۡتَقِبۡهُمۡ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ
Inna mursiloo alnnaqati fitnatan lahum fairtaqibhum waistabirIndeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient
- 28Verse 28
وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ أَنَّ ٱلۡمَآءَ قِسۡمَةُۢ بَيۡنَهُمۡۖ كُلُّ شِرۡبٖ مُّحۡتَضَرٞ
Wanabbihum anna almaa qismatun baynahum kullu shirbin muhtadarunAnd inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]
- 29Verse 29
فَنَادَوۡاْ صَاحِبَهُمۡ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
Fanadaw sahibahum fataAAata faAAaqaraBut they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]
- 30Verse 30
فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuriAnd how [severe] were My punishment and warning
- 31Verse 31
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ صَيۡحَةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ فَكَانُواْ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلۡمُحۡتَظِرِ
Inna arsalna AAalayhim sayhatan wahidatan fakanoo kahasheemi almuhtathiriIndeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen
- 32Verse 32
وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirinAnd We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember
- 33Verse 33
كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوطِۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
Kaththabat qawmu lootin bialnnuthuriThe people of Lot denied the warning
- 34Verse 34
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٖۖ نَّجَّيۡنَٰهُم بِسَحَرٖ
Inna arsalna AAalayhim hasiban illa ala lootin najjaynahum bisaharinIndeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn
- 35Verse 35
نِّعۡمَةٗ مِّنۡ عِندِنَاۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي مَن شَكَرَ
NiAAmatan min AAindina kathalika najzee man shakaraAs favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful
- 36Verse 36
وَلَقَدۡ أَنذَرَهُم بَطۡشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوۡاْ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
Walaqad antharahum batshatana fatamaraw bialnnuthuriAnd he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning
- 37Verse 37
وَلَقَدۡ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيۡفِهِۦ فَطَمَسۡنَآ أَعۡيُنَهُمۡ فَذُوقُواْ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Walaqad rawadoohu AAan dayfihi fatamasna aAAyunahum fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuriAnd they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning
- 38Verse 38
وَلَقَدۡ صَبَّحَهُم بُكۡرَةً عَذَابٞ مُّسۡتَقِرّٞ
Walaqad sabbahahum bukratan AAathabun mustaqirrunAnd there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment
- 39Verse 39
فَذُوقُواْ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
Fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuriSo taste My punishment and warning
- 40Verse 40
وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirinAnd We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember
- 41Verse 41
وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ
Walaqad jaa ala firAAawna alnnuthuruAnd there certainly came to the people of Pharaoh warning
- 42Verse 42
كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذۡنَٰهُمۡ أَخۡذَ عَزِيزٖ مُّقۡتَدِرٍ
Kaththaboo biayatina kulliha faakhathnahum akhtha AAazeezin muqtadirinThey denied Our signs, all of them, so We seized them with a seizure of one Exalted in Might and Perfect in Ability
- 43Verse 43
أَكُفَّارُكُمۡ خَيۡرٞ مِّنۡ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكُمۡ أَمۡ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٞ فِي ٱلزُّبُرِ
Akuffarukum khayrun min olaikum am lakum baraatun fee alzzuburiAre your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or have you immunity in the scripture
- 44Verse 44
أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ نَحۡنُ جَمِيعٞ مُّنتَصِرٞ
Am yaqooloona nahnu jameeAAun muntasirunOr do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]
- 45Verse 45
سَيُهۡزَمُ ٱلۡجَمۡعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ
Sayuhzamu aljamAAu wayuwalloona alddubura[Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat]
- 46Verse 46
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوۡعِدُهُمۡ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدۡهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ
Bali alssaAAatu mawAAiduhum waalssaAAatu adha waamarruBut the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter
- 47Verse 47
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ فِي ضَلَٰلٖ وَسُعُرٖ
Inna almujrimeena fee dalalin wasuAAurinIndeed, the criminals are in error and madness
- 48Verse 48
يَوۡمَ يُسۡحَبُونَ فِي ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمۡ ذُوقُواْ مَسَّ سَقَرَ
Yawma yushaboona fee alnnari AAala wujoohihim thooqoo massa saqaraThe Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces [it will be said], "Taste the touch of Saqar
- 49Verse 49
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقۡنَٰهُ بِقَدَرٖ
Inna kulla shayin khalaqnahu biqadarinIndeed, all things We created with predestination
- 50Verse 50
وَمَآ أَمۡرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٞ كَلَمۡحِۭ بِٱلۡبَصَرِ
Wama amruna illa wahidatun kalamhin bialbasariAnd Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye
- 51Verse 51
وَلَقَدۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَآ أَشۡيَاعَكُمۡ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ
Walaqad ahlakna ashyaAAakum fahal min muddakirinAnd We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember
- 52Verse 52
وَكُلُّ شَيۡءٖ فَعَلُوهُ فِي ٱلزُّبُرِ
Wakullu shayin faAAaloohu fee alzzuburiAnd everything they did is in written records
- 53Verse 53
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٖ وَكَبِيرٖ مُّسۡتَطَرٌ
Wakullu sagheerin wakabeerin mustatarunAnd every small and great [thing] is inscribed
- 54Verse 54
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَنَهَرٖ
Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin wanaharinIndeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers
- 55Verse 55
فِي مَقۡعَدِ صِدۡقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٖ مُّقۡتَدِرِۭ
Fee maqAAadi sidqin AAinda maleekin muqtadirinIn a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability
