- 1Verse 1
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَٰتِ غَرۡقٗا
WaalnnaziAAati gharqanBy those [angels] who extract with violence
- 2Verse 2
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَٰتِ نَشۡطٗا
Waalnnashitati nashtanAnd [by] those who remove with ease
- 3Verse 3
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَٰتِ سَبۡحٗا
Waalssabihati sabhanAnd [by] those who glide [as if] swimming
- 4Verse 4
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَٰتِ سَبۡقٗا
Faalssabiqati sabqanAnd those who race each other in a race
- 5Verse 5
فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمۡرٗا
Faalmudabbirati amranAnd those who arrange [each] matter
- 6Verse 6
يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
Yawma tarjufu alrrajifatuOn the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation]
- 7Verse 7
تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
TatbaAAuha alrradifatuThere will follow it the subsequent [one]
- 8Verse 8
قُلُوبٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَاجِفَةٌ
Quloobun yawmaithin wajifatunHearts, that Day, will tremble
- 9Verse 9
أَبۡصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةٞ
Absaruha khashiAAatunTheir eyes humbled
- 10Verse 10
يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِي ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ
Yaqooloona ainna lamardoodoona fee alhafiratiThey are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]
- 11Verse 11
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمٗا نَّخِرَةٗ
Aitha kunna AAithaman nakhiratanEven if we should be decayed bones
- 12Verse 12
قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذٗا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٞ
Qaloo tilka ithan karratun khasiratunThey say, "That, then, would be a losing return
- 13Verse 13
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ
Fainnama hiya zajratun wahidatunIndeed, it will be but one shout
- 14Verse 14
فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
Faitha hum bialssahiratiAnd suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface
- 15Verse 15
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
Hal ataka hadeethu moosaHas there reached you the story of Moses
- 16Verse 16
إِذۡ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
Ith nadahu rabbuhu bialwadi almuqaddasi tuwanWhen his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa
- 17Verse 17
ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
Ithhab ila firAAawna innahu taghaGo to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed
- 18Verse 18
فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
Faqul hal laka ila an tazakkaAnd say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself
- 19Verse 19
وَأَهۡدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشَىٰ
Waahdiyaka ila rabbika fatakhshaAnd let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]
- 20Verse 20
فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلۡأٓيَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
Faarahu alayata alkubraAnd he showed him the greatest sign
- 21Verse 21
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
Fakaththaba waAAasaBut Pharaoh denied and disobeyed
- 22Verse 22
ثُمَّ أَدۡبَرَ يَسۡعَىٰ
Thumma adbara yasAAaThen he turned his back, striving
- 23Verse 23
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
Fahashara fanadaAnd he gathered [his people] and called out
- 24Verse 24
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
Faqala ana rabbukumu alaAAlaAnd said, "I am your most exalted lord
- 25Verse 25
فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ
Faakhathahu Allahu nakala alakhirati waaloolaSo Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]
- 26Verse 26
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبۡرَةٗ لِّمَن يَخۡشَىٰٓ
Inna fee thalika laAAibratan liman yakhshaIndeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]
- 27Verse 27
ءَأَنتُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُۚ بَنَىٰهَا
Aantum ashaddu khalqan ami alssamao banahaAre you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah constructed it
- 28Verse 28
رَفَعَ سَمۡكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
RafaAAa samkaha fasawwahaHe raised its ceiling and proportioned it
- 29Verse 29
وَأَغۡطَشَ لَيۡلَهَا وَأَخۡرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
Waaghtasha laylaha waakhraja duhahaAnd He darkened its night and extracted its brightness
- 30Verse 30
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
Waalarda baAAda thalika dahahaAnd after that He spread the earth
- 31Verse 31
أَخۡرَجَ مِنۡهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرۡعَىٰهَا
Akhraja minha maaha wamarAAahaHe extracted from it its water and its pasture
- 32Verse 32
وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَرۡسَىٰهَا
Waaljibala arsahaAnd the mountains He set firmly
- 33Verse 33
مَتَٰعٗا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ
MataAAan lakum walianAAamikumAs provision for you and your grazing livestock
- 34Verse 34
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
Faitha jaati alttammatu alkubraBut when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity
- 35Verse 35
يَوۡمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
Yawma yatathakkaru alinsanu ma saAAaThe Day when man will remember that for which he strove
- 36Verse 36
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
Waburrizati aljaheemu liman yaraAnd Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see
- 37Verse 37
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
Faamma man taghaSo as for he who transgressed
- 38Verse 38
وَءَاثَرَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا
Waathara alhayata alddunyaAnd preferred the life of the world
- 39Verse 39
فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
Fainna aljaheema hiya almawaThen indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge
- 40Verse 40
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفۡسَ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰ
Waama man khafa maqama rabbihi wanaha alnnafsa AAani alhawaBut as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination
- 41Verse 41
فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
Fainna aljannata hiya almawaThen indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge
- 42Verse 42
يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَا
Yasaloonaka AAani alssaAAati ayyana mursahaThey ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival
- 43Verse 43
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكۡرَىٰهَآ
Feema anta min thikrahaIn what [position] are you that you should mention it
- 44Verse 44
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
Ila rabbika muntahahaTo your Lord is its finality
- 45Verse 45
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخۡشَىٰهَا
Innama anta munthiru man yakhshahaYou are only a warner for those who fear it
- 46Verse 46
كَأَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوۡ ضُحَىٰهَا
Kaannahum yawma yarawnaha lam yalbathoo illa AAashiyyatan aw duhahaIt will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof
