إِذَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ
Itha alshshamsu kuwwiratWhen the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
- 2Verse 2
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتۡ
Waitha alnnujoomu inkadaratAnd when the stars fall, dispersing
- 3Verse 3
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ
Waitha aljibalu suyyiratAnd when the mountains are removed
- 4Verse 4
وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ
Waitha alAAisharu AAuttilatAnd when full-term she-camels are neglected
- 5Verse 5
وَإِذَا ٱلۡوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتۡ
Waitha alwuhooshu hushiratAnd when the wild beasts are gathered
- 6Verse 6
وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ
Waitha albiharu sujjiratAnd when the seas are filled with flame

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتۡ
Waitha alnnufoosu zuwwijatAnd when the souls are paired
- 8Verse 8
وَإِذَا ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتۡ
Waitha almawoodatu suilatAnd when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
- 9Verse 9
بِأَيِّ ذَنۢبٖ قُتِلَتۡ
Biayyi thanbin qutilatFor what sin she was killed
- 10Verse 10
وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ
Waitha alssuhufu nushiratAnd when the pages are made public
- 11Verse 11
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡ
Waitha alssamao kushitatAnd when the sky is stripped away
- 12Verse 12
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتۡ
Waitha aljaheemu suAAAAiratAnd when Hellfire is set ablaze
- 13Verse 13
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَنَّةُ أُزۡلِفَتۡ
Waitha aljannatu ozlifatAnd when Paradise is brought near
- 14Verse 14
عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّآ أَحۡضَرَتۡ
AAalimat nafsun ma ahdaratA soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]
- 15Verse 15
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلۡخُنَّسِ
Fala oqsimu bialkhunnasiSo I swear by the retreating stars
- 16Verse 16
ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡكُنَّسِ
Aljawari alkunnasiThose that run [their courses] and disappear
- 17Verse 17
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا عَسۡعَسَ
Waallayli itha AAasAAasaAnd by the night as it closes in
- 18Verse 18
وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ
Waalssubhi itha tanaffasaAnd by the dawn when it breathes
- 19Verse 19
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ
Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareemin[That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger
- 20Verse 20
ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي ٱلۡعَرۡشِ مَكِينٖ
Thee quwwatin AAinda thee alAAarshi makeenin[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position]
- 21Verse 21
مُّطَاعٖ ثَمَّ أَمِينٖ
MutaAAin thamma ameeninObeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy
- 22Verse 22
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجۡنُونٖ
Wama sahibukum bimajnooninAnd your companion is not [at all] mad
- 23Verse 23
وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ
Walaqad raahu bialofuqi almubeeniAnd he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon
- 24Verse 24
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينٖ
Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneeninAnd Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen
- 25Verse 25
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٖ
Wama huwa biqawli shaytanin rajeeminAnd the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]
- 26Verse 26
فَأَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُونَ
Faayna tathhaboonaSo where are you going
- 27Verse 27
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرٞ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameenaIt is not except a reminder to the worlds
- 28Verse 28
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمۡ أَن يَسۡتَقِيمَ
Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeemaFor whoever wills among you to take a right course
- 29Verse 29
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Wama tashaoona illa an yashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameenaAnd you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds
