هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡغَٰشِيَةِ
Hal ataka hadeethu alghashiyatiHas there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]
- 2Verse 2
وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ
Wujoohun yawmaithin khashiAAatun[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled
- 3Verse 3
عَامِلَةٞ نَّاصِبَةٞ
AAamilatun nasibatunWorking [hard] and exhausted
- 4Verse 4
تَصۡلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةٗ
Tasla naran hamiyatanThey will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire
- 5Verse 5
تُسۡقَىٰ مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ ءَانِيَةٖ
Tusqa min AAaynin aniyatinThey will be given drink from a boiling spring
- 6Verse 6
لَّيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٖ
Laysa lahum taAAamun illa min dareeAAinFor them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant
- 7Verse 7
لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِن جُوعٖ
La yusminu wala yughnee min jooAAinWhich neither nourishes nor avails against hunger
- 8Verse 8
وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ نَّاعِمَةٞ
Wujoohun yawmaithin naAAimatun[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure
- 9Verse 9
لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةٞ
LisaAAyiha radiyatunWith their effort [they are] satisfied
- 10Verse 10
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖ
Fee jannatin AAaliyatinIn an elevated garden
- 11Verse 11
لَّا تَسۡمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةٗ
La tasmaAAu feeha laghiyatanWherein they will hear no unsuitable speech
- 12Verse 12
فِيهَا عَيۡنٞ جَارِيَةٞ
Feeha AAaynun jariyatunWithin it is a flowing spring
- 13Verse 13
فِيهَا سُرُرٞ مَّرۡفُوعَةٞ
Feeha sururun marfooAAatunWithin it are couches raised high
- 14Verse 14
وَأَكۡوَابٞ مَّوۡضُوعَةٞ
Waakwabun mawdooAAatunAnd cups put in place
- 15Verse 15
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصۡفُوفَةٞ
Wanamariqu masfoofatunAnd cushions lined up
- 16Verse 16
وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبۡثُوثَةٌ
Wazarabiyyu mabthoothatunAnd carpets spread around
- 17Verse 17
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِبِلِ كَيۡفَ خُلِقَتۡ
Afala yanthuroona ila alibili kayfa khuliqatThen do they not look at the camels - how they are created
- 18Verse 18
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ رُفِعَتۡ
Waila alssamai kayfa rufiAAatAnd at the sky - how it is raised
- 19Verse 19
وَإِلَى ٱلۡجِبَالِ كَيۡفَ نُصِبَتۡ
Waila aljibali kayfa nusibatAnd at the mountains - how they are erected
- 20Verse 20
وَإِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَيۡفَ سُطِحَتۡ
Waila alardi kayfa sutihatAnd at the earth - how it is spread out
- 21Verse 21
فَذَكِّرۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٞ
Fathakkir innama anta muthakkirunSo remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder
- 22Verse 22
لَّسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِمُصَيۡطِرٍ
Lasta AAalayhim bimusaytirinYou are not over them a controller
- 23Verse 23
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
Illa man tawalla wakafaraHowever, he who turns away and disbelieves
- 24Verse 24
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرَ
FayuAAaththibuhu Allahu alAAathaba alakbaraThen Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment
- 25Verse 25
إِنَّ إِلَيۡنَآ إِيَابَهُمۡ
Inna ilayna iyabahumIndeed, to Us is their return
- 26Verse 26
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا حِسَابَهُم
Thumma inna AAalayna hisabahumThen indeed, upon Us is their account
